How to create a database in cPanel

Many websites now have databases connected, allowing information to be managed in a much more efficient way. To create a database for your website, follow these simple steps:

1. Login to cPanel using the details provided in your New Account Information email.
2. Under the Databases section, click MySQL Databases.
3. In the New Database field, type the chosen name for your database.
4. Click Create Database.

Now that the database has been created, you must create a user for the database and assign privileges to that user.

1. Login to cPanel using the details provided in your New Account Information email.
2. Under the Databases section, click MySQL Databases.
3. Click Jump to MySQL users in the top right hand corner of the page.
4. Under Add New User, type in a username and password for the user.
5. Click Create User.

To privileges to a user, follow the steps below:

1. Login to cPanel using the details provided in your New Account Information email.
2. Under the Databases section, click MySQL Databases.
3. Under Add User to Database, select the correct user from the drop down box.
4. Under the Database drop down box, select the database you wish the user to have access to and click Add.
5. Go to the MySQL account maintenance screen and select the privileges for the user (or select all privileges).
6. Click Make Changes.
