ICANN verification explained

From January 1st 2014, the domain governing body ICANN have introduced a new policy which requires that domain owners verify their contact information by email when any new domains are registered or any changes are made to existing domains.

A verification email will be sent to the registrant email address from info@kthosting.com. This email will contain a link which connects to the verification screen. This screen will show your registrant details, including your first and last name, along with a link to the terms and conditions. Simply check the details are correct and tick the box to confirm that you agree to these terms and conditions and your domain will be verified.

Any of the following will trigger the verification process:

  • Registering a new domain after January 1st 2014
  • Attempting to transfer a domain after January 1st 2014
  • Updating contact information for a domain (e.g. first and last names, email address)
  • If a renewal notice is sent out and bounced back (undeliverable)

Validation emails are sent out immediately after the process has been triggered. Additional notices are sent out on day 5, day 10 and day 13. If you have failed to verify your information by day 15, a notice will be sent out to advise of the suspension of your domain.

If you haven’t received an email verification, please contact us and we can re-send the email for you. Alternatively, we can change the email address that the verification notice is sent to.

If your domain has been suspended, the only way to get it back up and running is to verify your email address. It is important to ensure that your contact information is kept up to date and that you have access to the email address on record, to ensure that you can be contacted with any problems about your domain.

If you change or register one of your domains and this is then validated, all domains with the same contact information will be considered validated, so there is no need to validate all of your domains individually.

PLEASE NOTE for new registrations, the verification email will be sent out when the registration has been successful but the domain will be placed ON HOLD until the email address has been verified.
